2023 GCP Exhibition Foreword

As part of its Global Campus Program (GCP), the Faculty of Language Studies at Teikyo University has been sending students to 29 universities and colleges in 14 countries around the world since 2018. In their fourth semester, students spend 14 weeks or longer studying abroad in a location of their own choice. Although the program was forced to suspend from 2020 to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it successfully resumed in 2022. In late February of this year, we organized the third post-GCP session for the students who studied overseas in the fall of 2023, during which they engaged in a range of activities to reflect on their study abroad experience and to make plans for future studies and careers.

The purpose of the GCP program is to provide students with the chance to learn a foreign language in the society where it is used. Additionally, the program allows the students to immerse themselves in the cultures of each nation or region, which is the first step in becoming a Global Citizen, as clearly stated in our diploma policy. The post-GCP session offers the students the opportunity to compare their experiences overseas and learn about the similarities and differences between various cultures.

The posters displayed here were created by students who returned from different study abroad locations. The posters not only demonstrate the students’ efforts in understanding their experiences, but also their endeavors to express their findings through the arts. The students’ works will undoubtedly provide insight into the fantastic experiences of studying abroad. We sincerely hope you enjoy the exhibition! Thank you!

帝京⼤学外国語学部外国語学科では、2018年からGCP (Global Campus Program) として、世界14 の国と地域の29の⼤学へ（当初は13の国と地域、24の⼤学）、2年次後半の半年間全学⽣を留学に派遣しています。2020年から2021年の2年間はコロナ・パンデミックのため中⽌を余儀なくされましたが、2022年に再開し、２学年を同時に留学に送り出しました。そして2023年度は3年ぶりに事後研修再開にこぎつけました。

このプログラムの第⼀の⽬的は、学⽣たちがそれぞれの⾔語を使う環境に⾝を置いてその⾔語を習得することです。さらに、個々の地域の⽂化に触れ、ディプロマ・ポリシーに謳うグローバル・シチズンとしての第⼀歩となる貴重な体験をすることも重要な⽬的です。そして、今回英語コースの事後研修では学⽣たちに、お互いの体験を⽐較対照し⾔語化することで、それがどこまで普遍的でどこまで特殊なものなのか、⾃分が⾏った地域以外のことを知ることで⾃分の体験の意味をより深く理解する⼿がかりを掴んでもらうことが狙いです。

今回お⽬にかけるポスターは留学から帰ってきた学⽣たちがグループで作成したものです。各グループは異なる留学先の学⽣で構成され、その留学体験には共通する部分と相違する部分がありました。彼ら彼⼥らがそこからどんな関⼼を⾒つけ出し、それをどのように表現しようとしたか、それぞれのグループの苦⼼の跡は今回の展⽰にも如実に現れていると思います。学⽣たちの留学の成果の⼀端をご覧ください。
